Women for Health Programme

The HRH Learning Hub was established in 2018 as a joint venture between Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and the Women for Health Programme. The eight-year UK-Aid-funded W4H programme successfully increased the number of female health workers, especially midwives, in rural areas of northern Nigeria.

Our expertise

The HRH Learning Hub was established in 2018 as a joint venture between Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and the Women for Health Programme [LINK]. The eight-year UK-Aid-funded W4H programme successfully increased the number of female health workers, especially midwives, in rural areas of northern Nigeria.

By the time W4H ended in September 2020, the health training institutions in Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Zamfara, Yobe and Borno had been transformed and more than 9,300 women had received education to become nurses, midwives or community health extension workers – and around 450 had graduated and entered in rural communities.

This website provides free access to all W4H resources – as well as national and international HRH resources.
